Discrimination

Discrimination is characterized by a single event or a recurring series of events that occurs when a person is treated unfairly by a person or a group of people. Discrimination includes, harassment, ridicule and neglect.

Often, discrimination occurs when someone experiences treatment based on a characteristic, such as race, gender, hair color, height, etc.

Types of Discrimination:

• AIDS Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment because a person has contracted AIDS.
• African American Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment because a person is of African American descent.

• Ethnic Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment in the workplace or social settings due to ethnic background or perceived ethnic background.
• Female Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment in the workplace or in society due to female gender.
• Gender Discrimination: Prejudice, harassment, malice or discrimination due to the gender of an individual or due to the gender of a group.
• Harassment: Malice, prejudice or discrimination against a person or a group of people.
• HIV discrimination: Harassment, prejudice or malice towards a fully functioning person who is HIV positive is considered HIV discrimination.
• Homosexual Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment against a person or a group of people due to their sexual orientation.
• Job Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment against a person who has a job, is applying for a job or who has been fired from a job.
• Native American Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment in the workplace or in society against a person or group of people who are of Native American descent.
• Obesity Discrimination: Prejudice, harassment or malice against a person who is perceived to be overweight.
• Origin Discrimination: Prejudice or harassment against a person or group of people due to their ethnic background. This also extends to a person’s perceived ethnic background.
• Pregnancy Discrimination: Discriminating against a person who is pregnant. This type of discrimination includes pregnancy as well as time off for labor and recovery.
• Prejudice Discrimination: Discrimination due to a perceived physical or mental attribute of a person or group of people.
• Price Discrimination: Unfair pricing demanded of a person or a group of people that either encourages them to pay too much or too little for a product or a service.
• Racial discrimination: Malice, prejudice, harassment or violence towards a person or a group of people because of their racial background.

• Religious discrimination: Harassment, malice or prejudice against an individual or a group of individuals due to their formalized or non-formalized religious beliefs.

• School Discrimination: Disproportionate opportunity given to a specific group of individuals within an academic setting.
• Sex Discrimination: Lost opportunities to individuals or groups of individuals due to gender.
• Sexual Discrimination: Harassment, prejudice or malice against a person that causes embarrassment or grief due to sexually explicit conversations, actions or expectations within the workplace or within a social setting.
• Social Discrimination: Unfair prejudice against a person or a group of people within a society.
• Wage Discrimination: Unequal pay for equal work is considered wage discrimination.
• Weight Discrimination: Unfair prejudice and harassment against a person or group of people due to their weight.
• Women Discrimination: Harassment, prejudice or malice against a female in the workplace or in a social setting.
• Workplace Discrimination: Any type of action that ensures that a person does not have an equal opportunity within the workplace.
