Lifestyle Discrimination
Lifestyle discrimination occurs when a person or a group of people is harassed or
not given equal opportunities within social, civic, educational and workplace
settings.
The government has enacted laws that afford all citizens equal opportunities and
equal protections under the law. When a person or a group of people are not given
those opportunities due to legal and lawful lifestyle preferences, there is likely
a case of lifestyle discrimination.
Further, no business can hire or fire due to lifestyle practices so long as those
practices are legal and do not injure an employers opportunity to conduct its
legal business. These same lifestyle protections must also be granted within the
workplace so long as they do not hinder or endanger other workers or other workers
own lifestyle choices.
